Durante los pasados dos meses tuve la suerte de disfrutar la llegada de muy buenos DJ para las celebraciones del noveno aniversario del Hard Pop. De las cosas más memorables de su festejo fueron las presentaciones de Miss Kittin y Sophia Saze.
Miss Kittin, nacida Caroline Hervé, lanzó su álbum debut como solista en 2004, “I Com” y hace apenas dos años, en 2013, presentó su tercer disco: “Calling From The Stars”. Empezó a mezclar en 1994 y no ha parado desde entonces, actualmente trabaja desde París. “Me encanta mezclar, probablemente es lo que mejor sé hacer en la vida. Lo hago porque es muy divertido y me deja ser libre”, dice sobre sí misma.
Sophia Saze, una música y artista multimedia basada en Nueva York, es la fundadora del colectivo Dusk & Haze y a la par de su acto de música techno (influenciado por música dance y clásica), prepara sus exhibiciones en distintas galerías de arte.
Miss Kittin no sólo puso el mood con su excelente selección (“Baby is on Fire” de Brian Eno me viene a la mente), sino también al tomar el micrófono y cantar en vivo. Su forma de mezclar es única, de repente detenía todo el beat y comenzaba con un ritmo completamente nuevo.
Por otro lado, Sophia Saze aunque abrió la noche en que se presentaron Victor Ruiz y Any Mello, les robó la noche. Su habilidad en la mezcladora y la energía que generaba en la gente era tan intensa que me arrojó a la primera escena de la película Irreversible. Fue triste verla irse tan pronto.

During the last two months I was lucky to experience a wave of very good DJs for the 9th anniversary of Hard Pop. The most memorable events from the celebration were the presentations of Miss Kittin and Sofia Saze.
Miss Kittin, or Caroline Hervé, released her first solo album in 2004, ‘I Com’, and just two year ago, in 2013 presented her third album: ‘Calling From The Stars’. She began to mix in 1994 and she hasn’t stopped since then, currently she works from Paris. She said “I love playing records, it’s probably the best thing I know to do in life. I do it because it’s fun and it makes me free”.
Sopha Saze, musician and multi-media artist is based in New York and is the founder of the Dusk & Haze Colective. Besides her musical techno act (influenced by dance and classical music) she is working on different art gallery exhibitions.
Miss Kittin not only created such an atmosphere with her excellent musical selection (Brian Eno’s ‘Baby is on Fire’ come to mind), but also by taking the microphone and singing live. Her way of mixing is pretty unique—suddenly she would stop the beat completely to start with a new rhythm.
On the other hand, Sofia Saze even when she opened for Victor Ruiz and Any Mello, she stole the night. Her ability to mix and the energy she generated in people was so intense that made me think of the first scene from the movie Irreversible. It was sad to see her go so soon.
